PSA Shorts: Phantom Eye Syndrome

Phantom limb syndrome is a well know and scientifically verified phenomena. Amputee’s still feel the presence of their missing limb long after surgery, even experiencing pain in the missing limb. Another interesting aspect is the mind’s ability to associate a prosthetic limb as a real limb. This is evident by a study that showed when acupuncture was performed on a rubber hand, the patients reported feeling the insertion of the needles, in the rubber hand. Just more evidence that acupuncture is BS. Now obviously a rubber hand can’t send pain signals to the patient’s brain but it does show how our brains can make that connection visually. The mind can be tricked as is shown by the treatment for Phantom Limb Syndrome.
